Day six...
Here it is, a nice view of Ho-pyeong dong from Pyongnae up the hill. This is all part of the city of Namyangju, but Ho-pyeong is my part of town. Its made up of a bunch of high rise apartments, high rise store buildings a school and a huge 4 story vertical walmart called E-mart, all contained within surrounding forest covered mountains. And its all less than 6 years old, I guess sprawl overflow from Seoul.

  1. Seems like a very efficient use of land. Keeps transportation distances down too.

  2. i think that everyone works in seoul though. plus cars rule korea, its crazy at times. you can park in crosswalks, go on red lights, drive 2 in a lane park on sidewalks, prettymuch whatever goes. theres no bike lane and as a ped you have to watch for cars, or scooters at all times.

  3. Reminds me of Thailand where if your in the bigger vehicle you get the right of way, so if you were on a bike or scooter you had to pull over to let trucks pass, and they would be pretty aggressive. You should post some of the meals you get to eat? have you had anything really unexpected yet? Also I've been looking at flights to Korea and we are trying to figure out the best time to come, Matt said winter break is until mid February so we were thinking of maybe coming then, but I was also reading about how the cherry blossoms start blooming in April and thought it would be really nice to go then if possible. How much time do you have off during the school week? would it be really inconvenient if we came when you aren't on break?
